In 2019, the German Eastern Business Association (OAOEV), in cooperation with the foundation "El-Yurt Umidi" under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, is organising an Internship Programme of German Business for Uzbekistan for the first time.
The goal of the programme is to find three-month internships in German companies for 25 to 30 highly qualified MA students from Uzbekistan.
The internship programme offers German companies an excellent opportunity to meet highly qualified junior staff from Uzbekistan. The interns are selected in a multi-stage process. First, the profiles of the applicants are determined in dialogue with participating companies and compared with the received applications. Then the candidates will be invited for interviews. Finally, the companies receive multiple candidate proposals from which they can choose. The final decision for or against a candidate (students in MA studies) is always made by the company itself.
The costs for the arrival and departure of the interns are borne by the foundation "El-Yurt Umidi", and the accommodation costs as well as running costs including a monthly internship salary are to be borne by the participating companies. The internship programme team organises the selection of interns, clarifies all visa and residence issues and organises an introductory workshop in Tashkent for the selected interns.
After their stay in Germany, the interns return to Uzbekistan where they can put their acquired knowledge and skills to practical use. The experience and contacts gained strengthen economic development and promote bilateral economic cooperation with Germany.
With the planned establishment of an alumni network, the programme makes an important contribution to sustainable economic development, intensifies economic relations and creates a cross-country network of young, cosmopolitan junior staff.
Uzbek MA students can apply via an online portal from 26th November to 17th December 2018. Preference is given to applicants with knowledge of business administration, economics, engineering, IT, law, accounting, architecture and business journalism. Very good language skills in German or English are also required.
The internships in German companies are scheduled to start at the beginning of May 2019.
The application procedure is divided into three parts:
• an online application in English or German (End of November - December)
• an interview in Tashkent (January)
• and the selection of the proposed candidate by the company (February - March)
